My online courses cover about the same material, in about the same time-frame, as my College lecture courses. Online courses are designed for students who would prefer not to drive to campus and who can commit extra time to completing and submitting assignments on time. Most of my students in previous online math courses have had heavy work and family responsibilities but have also had convenient and reliable access to the internet. My former students were not computer 'geeks' but did have some computer skills and enjoyed using the internet. Communication with my students is almost entirely by E-mail. I am usually able to answer student questions during the same day that I receive them. I can safely say that all of my previous students who were successful in my online courses were self motivated and possessed excellent time management skills. The online format requires that you spend some time on the course each week. The software does not allow you to get behind.

These courses are entirely online. There is no requirement to ever visit the campus. All homework Quizzes and Tests are to be taken online.The testing software (WebAssign) is separate from Vista( the course software ) and can be accessed through a link within Vista or directly by the WebAssign URL. The general setup of the course is to cover between one and three textbook units per week over a 15 week semester (see online schedule). You will have one week, 5pm Monday of one week to 5pm Monday of the following week, to submit answers to 5 quiz questions from each textbook section covered during the week. Each section quiz will be timed at 45 minutes from the first Download. You will be allowed a second submission to each question, in the event your first answer to the question is incorrect. The point total for the 5 quiz problems will vary between 5 and 25 points depending on the number of parts for each question. The software scores each response as an answer. For example, if each of the five questions has two parts the software will score the quiz at 10 points. The four semester tests will have between 20 and 25 questions selected from the sections covered. You will have two (2) hours from the first Download to submit a Chapter test with two submissions per question. Test #4 will be the last test and will not be comprehensive.

The WebAssign software will grade all of your work in the course. You will be able to see your GRADE at any time as a percentage of total possible points. The final grade for the course will follow the grading schedule below:
