Disability Services/Special Needs

Disability Services

Lone Star College-Kingwood is dedicated to providing access and services in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

Services are available for students who require special support due to the following:
  • Visual impairment
  • Hearing impairment
  • Learning disability
  • Physical impairment
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Other disabilities

If you are a student with a disability, it is your responsibility to apply for services and to provide your college with appropriate documentation in support of a disability claim. We encourage you to meet with a designated counselor.

Student Responsibilities
  • Follow regular academic procedures to register for classes. It is best if you register EARLY.
  • After you've registered, make an appointment with Student Development to discuss appropriate classroom accommodations based upon the documentation.
  • Submit the accommodation form to each instructor within the first two weeks of the semester. Discuss arrangements with the instructor to implement the classroom modifications.
  • Submit sufficient evidence of physical, emotional and/or learning disability.
  • Each semester will require a new set of accommodation forms, so register EARLY! Returning students who do not desire any changes in the previous semester's accommodations may call 281.312.1453 to have new accommodations be ready for them in the Advising Center.
