MCSA: Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator

The Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) credential provides the skills to successfully implement, manage,and troubleshoot the ongoing needs of a Microsfot Windows XP based operating environment. This program prepares students for a career as a LAN administrator. Successful completion of four exams is required to become a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator.


MCSE: Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer

The Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) credential is the premier certification for professionals who analyze the business requirements for system architeture; design solutions; deploy, install & configure architecture components; and troubleshoot system problems. The Windows XP track of the MCSE reflects changing technology, products, job roles, and the needs of customers and the industry. Lone Star College-Kingwood's MCSE program prepares students for careers as LAN administrators, systems analysts, network engineers, and systems architects, in addition to other IT professional opportunities.

Program Admission and Prerequisites

Students undertaking these courses should have strong foundation skills mastered before entering the program. Competency in the following areas of study and/or experience is recommended: Introduction to Computers, DOS, Operating Systems, Windows Installation/Configuration, and Fundamentals of Networking or at least one year of experience implementing and administering a network operating system. A+ and Net+ training/certification are highly recommended.
