Medication Aide
 

Instruction in preparation and administration of designated medications by non-licensed nursing personnel employed in a licensed long-term care facility (LTCF) including the responsibilities associated with such administration.

On the first official day of class, student must either be a certified nurse aide (CNA) employed in a LTCF, or must be a non-licensed direct care person employed for 90 days in MHMR or TDCJ or licensed Personal Care Home twelve-month period preceding the course.

Successful completion of this course will enable students to take the Medication Aide exam. Upon passing the State exam, the student will be registered as a Certified Medication Aide by the Texas Department of Human Services. Prerequisite: High School Diploma or graduation from a GED program.
