Institutional Representation Committee Guidelines
Lone Star College-Kingwood faculty and administrators are encouraged to make presentations at national conferences. The purpose is to highlight programs and processes at Lone Star College-Kingwood. Those who are interested may seek financial support from the Institutional Representation Committee through the Teaching and Learning Center. Guidelines are as follows:
Committee members are:
- Dr. David Ragsdale
- Dr. Linda Stegall
- Peggy Whitley, Chair
General Guidelines:
- Pre-Approval by Associate Dean.
- Presentations must support and enhance the image of Lone Star College-Kingwood.
- Full-time faculty and administrators may apply.
- Maximum funding for expenses is $1000+ per faculty member, $750 per administrator.
Maximum funding for each conference is $2500 (The committee may make exceptions to this).
- Approved conferences will be national and state conferences for distance learning and community colleges. The dean will approve discipline conferences.
- Notification of submission dates will be made by TLC via email and on the website.
- Applicants will be considered for funding on alternate years (every two years minimum).
Application Requests:
- Initial application should be made prior to the time of proposal submission.
- Applications will include:
- Session description
- Copy of submission application
- A cover page including applicant name and title, presentation topic, conference dates, and a brief paragraph describing ways in which this paper will support and enhance the college. An itemized cost estimate (plane, registration, hotel, etc.) Also, list other sources of money for this conference (department money, personal professional development funds, or faculty senate funds.)
Final Approval:
- Final approval will be granted at the time of proposal acceptance.
- Application will then include:
- North Harris Lone Star College–Montgomery District Request and Authorization for Leave of Absence
- Copy of proposal acceptance
Follow up:
Each recipient will present a brief article for the Teaching and Learning Newsletter or speak at a Faculty Idea Exchange.The topic will focus on innovations seen or ‘lessons learned’.
