Student Success Stories
Rosy Perez is the first in her family to attend college. She recently received her associate degree in computer science. Active in Phi Theta Kappa and many student programs, Rosy says: "I am thankful to Lone Star College-Kingwood for opening the doors to a path of education and success."
Cal Pifer graduated from Quest High School in 2003. An an involved student, Cal eagerly sought out many of the clubs and organizations offered at the college. "I have gotten involved with the Student Ambassadors, Phi Theta Kappa, and Student Government," says Cal, a political science major. "These activities and opportunities make me feel so connected to the school."
During her two years at Lone Star College-Kingwood, Rebekah Keough sang with a local choral group, recruited fellow students and volunteered at major community events through her work as a Student Ambassador. "I have developed leadership skills and found that I love working with people and being involved," says Rebekah, who is transferring to the University of North Texas in public relations.
Faculty and Staff experiences
Each year the cost of an education is climbing higher and higher. Parents and students alike are trying to find creative ways to pay for the high cost of an education. A number of students are finding themselves in more debt with college loans than ever before. Students are using credit cards and private lenders in addition to available financial aid to help offset the costs of college. Many of our students use the words grateful, thankful, appreciative and blessed when a donor provides them with scholarship funds. The students tell me over and over that they are grateful to get any amount given. To be in a position to give a scholarship or donation to a student not only impacts the students life but also does a great deal for the giver.
