The Visual Communication program trains today's digital designers in the communication media of the future. This program provides students with skills needed for careers in commercial art and design, desktop publishing, multimedia development, video and post-production, web design, and 3-D animation. The demand for these skills comes from a variety of industries including advertising, consumer products, education, entertainment, government, legal, manufacturing, medical, petroleum, publishing, transportation, and video production.
The Visual Communication Co-op program is designed to give our students industry experience in their chosen specialization: Graphic Arts Technology (GRPH 2380), Interactive Media (IMED 2380), and Radio/Television Broadcasting (RTVB 2381). The program offers a limited number of on campus internships via the College's in-house design department, Designs in Print, media department, and Cable Station, KWCtv, with the majority of students seeking employment/internships from area businesses. The Co-op course, under the supervision of the college and the employer, provides the student career-related activities within the student's area of specialization; incorporating classroom learning with work experience.
