Catch of the Week - March 2004
The March 2004 Fish Award Winner is Kirsty Miller in the Financial Aid Office.
I would like to nominate Kirsty Miller, Financial Aid Advisor, for the catch of the month. Kirsty is relatively quiet and none assuming. She may not be known a great deal outside of the Student Services Department but she has been employed 2 years this August. We have had several events lately that Kirsty stepped up to the plate and hit a home run. One of notable mention is the "Connections Project" for New Caney and Splendora High School seniors sponsored by Lone Star College-Kingwood, Dr. Ike Williams and the East Montgomery County Rotary Club. Financial Aid was informed that they would play a very important role in the community event. Kirsty began to plan the financial aid portion of the event at a moments notice. She contacted a host of representatives in the FA community and asked if they would be interested in participating. They were delighted to be of service and honored to be asked. She coordinated the financial aid sessions, times, dates, places, activities and meeting arrangements for the staff and the representatives participating. Kirsty also generated scholarships from the representatives totalling over $1,000.00. She made sure that all their needs were met as they arrived and through out the evening. I had an opportunity to see a leadership side of Kirsty that I had not seen before and what's more, she was totally excited to do the job. Dr. Williams, Dr. Shade and I gave her raving reviews for her part with the event.
