I want to bring to your attention the exemplary service and attitude of one of your employees, Roy Self.
On April 15th, I had just come back from the Post Office after having mailed my taxes by the deadline; a harrowing and stressful experience in itself.
Just as I was pulling up at the college, my lower radiator tube burst.
Not knowing what had just happened, I called my boyfriend in St. Louis and we prayed that someone would come to my aide.
Almost immediately, Roy Self drove by and saw my car hood up and he stopped to inquire if I needed help.
He had been able to help me once before when my battery was dead, and told me that he used to own an older car such as I had, and was familiar with it.
After quickly assessing the situation, he told me that I needed a new lower radiator hose, and that if I could get a ride to the auto parts store, he would be glad to put it on for me.
Fortunately, Sharan Lacy, another employee and student here at Lone Star College-Kingwood was able to take me to the auto store immediately.
Upon return to the college, Roy was able to come to my car within minutes to put the hose on my car, which saved me tons of money, not to mention tow service fee.
Since my father passed away only two weeks ago, I was extremely distressed and certainly didn't have the money for car repair, as I am a student here at Lone Star College-Kingwood and a part-time employee as well.
Roy got on the ground under my car with his own tools, getting dirty and greasy, and even accidentally cut his hand in the process of repairing my car.
Within just a few minutes, Roy had repaired my car, and I was able to go on about my daily tasks.
This day could have been a total loss in time for me, had it not been for Roy.
I am so grateful that there are employees like Roy here at Lone Star College-Kingwood who is willing to go that extra mile!
He truly was an 'angel' in an earth suit, and an answer to prayer!
