Catch of the Month - April 2005
Franklin Emeka ... bringing sociology to life!
Have you heard of Professor Franklin Emeka’s “Food & Coat collection” to be distributed to the needy? Over the past couple of months he has collected a great deal. Then, last week, disaster struck…the food disappeared. He has tried hard to remain optimistic, not wishing to think the worst. Isn't this a "Catch of the Month" -- Even with what has occurred, he has continued to collect these items in spite of what has happened?
The fish philosophy, to me, is about going above and beyond our day-to-day duties. I would like to nominate a man I have never met, Franklin Emeka. Mr. Emeka is so very special because he not only teaches sociology; he also brings it to life. His attention to the homeless with the coat and blanket drive he hosted at Lone Star College-Kingwood this past winter is certainly deserving of the Lone Star College-Kingwood Fish Philosophy Award.
