Crucial Information for Interior Design (INDS) Students

COURSE LOAD

Most INDS classes are a combination of lecture and lab which meet 6 hours per week. The curriculum is extremely project intensive, and students should be careful in arranging their schedules. Students taking more than 3 design classes should consult the Interior Design coordinator.

PREREQUISITES

Several introductory Interior Design classes have basic Math or English requirements:

INDS 1311, INDS 1315, and INDS 1319 require MATH 0306 or equivalent test scores.

INDS 1351 & 1352 require ENGL 0305 or 0313 & ENGL 0307 or 0323 or equivalent test scores.

Many Interior Design classes have INDS prerequisites, so be sure to take the important introductory classes in order to be qualified to move on to the later ones.

Introductory level: INDS 1311 (Fundamentals), INDS 1319 (Tech. Drawing), and ARTS 1316 (Drawing I) should be taken the 1st semester. These 3 classes are prerequisites for intermediate classes.

Intermediate level: INDS 1349 (Space Planning) and INDS 2321 (Presentation Drawing) are required for advanced level.

Advanced level: INDS 2313 (Residential Design), INDS 1345 (Commercial Design), and INDS 1391 (Kitchen & Bath)

_________________________________________________________

INDS 2305, 2330, and 2315 ALL require INDS 1319 (Tech. Drawing) as a prerequisite.
INDS 1315, 2307, 1351, & 1352 are introductory level classes and have no INDS prerequisite.
INDS 2305 (Interior Design Graphics) is recommended 2nd semester for use in advanced classes.
INDS 2237 and INDS 2486 are recommended last semester before graduation.

See description of classes in catalogue and contact lead faculty member for further assistance.

Multi-cultural components required for graduation are embedded in the Interior Design curriculum in History of Interiors I and II as well as in Residential and Commercial Design.
