Discovery College
Are you looking for something fun for your child to do this summer? Enroll your child in Lone Star College-Kingwood's Discovery College. They provide programs that are fun and educational, offering children a chance to develop skills and learn new ones in a warm, friendly environment. Knowledgeable instructors - usually certified teachers will lead classes in a variety of subject areas with curriculum developed to encourage learning in a relaxed and creative atmosphere.
Children can choose among fun and educational activities such as: Brain Detective, Calligraphy, Craftastics, Get Your Knit On, Mythbusters, Secret Tricks of Successful Readers, Secret Tricks of Successful Writers, Project Runway, Teen Entrepreneur, Wood Carving, Sitter Safety and many more. We offer one-week classes, June 9 through August 8, 2008 for children ages 6 - 14.
Discovery College is a summer youth program that was started over 20 years ago. We have over 75 one-week courses for ages 6 - 14, beginning June 9 and ending on August 8. Our goal is to provide an opportunity for students to begin thinking about their future college aspirations and to provide a quality enrichment program from the arts to academics in a fun and safe environment.
We continue to ask parents and teachers for direction, and look to hire the best instructors to help us get there. We welcome your comments and suggestions. For your convenience, the college has scheduled one Saturday registration on April 26 from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm in Classroom Building A, room 107, however, you can mail, fax (281.312.1612) or register in person starting NOW in the Continuing Education Office (CLA 107) Monday - Friday from 8:00 - 5:00 pm. Camps fill quickly and early registration is recommended. We accept only paid registrations on a first-come, first-serve basis. Enrollment is limited, so send in your registration and emergency forms early to ensure your first choice of classes. Classes are offered Monday - Friday and change weekly. Sessions will be held 8:30 am - 12:30 pm and 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Students may attend morning, afternoon or all day and are required to supply their own lunch. All Discovery College participants will receive a Discovery College T-shirt.
