Application Requirements

All applicants must meet the required standards established by the State Board of Educator Certification, the Advisory Board, and Lone Star College-Kingwood to be admitted into the Lone Star College-Kingwood Teacher Certification Program. Candidates seeking admission will also be required to meet state and college entrance requirements in reading, writing, and mathematics.

Candidates are required to submit an application with the following materials to be screened for admission:

• A completed application
• Registration form and $40.00 application fee
• Official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended
• Explanation of a GPA under 2.5
• Official Score Report on THEA(TASP), SAT, GRE, ACT, ASSET, or COMPASS (must be within the last five years)
• Resume
• 3 professional references with contact information
• An essay discussing "Why You Want to Become a Teacher"
• An explanation of any criminal history
